The Story of Kutinya Arts

At the heart of our journey lies a passion for preserving and celebrating the pulsating cultural heritage of Zimbabwe and Africa at large. Born in 1998 out of a love for music, creativity, and community, Kutinya Arts was founded with a vision to redefine the art of marimba playing, crafting, and education while promoting cultural exchange on a global scale.

Our story begins with a simple yet profound realization: Marimba has the power to transcend boundaries and unite people from diverse backgrounds. This belief inspired us to take the Zimbabwean marimba, an instrument deeply rooted in African traditions, and inspire it into a vehicle for innovation, education, and social networking.

Over the years spanning two and a half decades, we have pioneered groundbreaking advancements in Zimbabwean marimba technology, including the invention of the extended marimba set of marimbas, which revolutionized the way the marimba instrument is played. Our founder, Nicholas Manomano, recognized the potential to expand the Zimbabwean traditional marimba’s range, enabling players to explore richer harmonies and broader musical expressions. This innovation has since become a staple in Zimbabwean schools, performances, and cultural events, setting an unbeatable standard for marimba craftsmanship.

Beyond crafting marimba instruments, we have committed ourselves to nurturing the next generation of marimba players and cultural ambassadors. Through immersive educational programs, international tours, workshops, marimba camps, and competitions, we have created platforms that empower students and communities to connect through the universal language of music. From the cultural crossroads of Harare to the grand stages of Europe and beyond, our initiatives have touched countless lives, inspiring a deep appreciation for Africa’s cultural wealth.

Today, we stand as a beacon of innovation, artistry, and tradition. Our marimbas are not just instruments; they are symbols of resilience, creativity, and the enduring spirit of Africa. With each note play, we celebrate our heritage while looking forward to a future filled with boundless possibilities.

This is our story—a story of rhythm, culture, and a stubborn commitment to marimba music excellence. We invite you to be part of our journey as we continue to create, innovate, and share the soul-stirring sounds of Africa with the world.
